The Chicago Firearms Company and Ames Sword Co. produced these palm pistols in the 1890s. They were designed and first manufactured by Jacques Turbiaux in 1882 in France and were produced for a brief period by the Minneapolis Firearms Company before the rights were sold to Peter Finnegan of the Chicago Firearms Company. This example has a band of floral engraving on the barrel and additional engraving designs around the outside of the frame on the right side which is also marked "THE PROTECTOR PAT.MCH.6.83.AUG.29.93" in a circle inside the side plate. The left side plate is checkered around the border with "CHICAGO FIRE ARMS CO. CHICAGO, ILL" in a circle at the center. The left side plate twists off to reveal the magazine which is numbered to match the side plate and frame. The pistol has mother of pearl side panels and a checkered hard rubber plunger pad. Very fine. 95% plus of the original nickel plating remains. There is some brown patina/residue in the checkering and engraving. The replacement oversize pearl panels and plunger pad are also very fine and have only minor handling wear. The action doesn't rotate the turret.
