Description:

The front lid has an "MI" monogram on the outer face and "29" and a subtle repair mark on the interior. The hour and minute hands have intricate scroll designs. The movement is numbered "+/12172." The movement interior lid is marked "MEDAILLE D'OR/BORDEAUX 1895/REPETITION A MINUTES/DIPLOME D'HONNEUR/PARIS 1896/No 312229/CHRONOGRAPHE" on the front with likenesses of the medals and awards among the text and "18K" and "312229" on the back. The inside of the rear lid has two subtle repair marks and "312229." It comes in a fitted case with "C. Fredenhagen/CALLE FLORIDA. 260/B.AIRES" retailer marking. There are no maker's marks, but the watch should be by Swiss watchmaker Alfred Lugrin's (1858-1920) Lugrin S.A. which became Lemania Watch Co. in 1930. Lugrin won additional medals at the World's Fair in 1906 in Milan and in 1914 in Bern suggesting this watch was manufactured around 1896-1906. Lugrin's chronograph designs were considered the standard for timing sporting events.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine with bright gold, some minor scratches and marks, and the noted repair markings. It appears to be mechanically excellent, including the repeater and the chronograph. The case is fine with mild storage wear.
