Description:

The barrel has engraved and inlaid bird and floral designs and a silver Ii clan mon and is equipped with traditional triangular blade front and grooved rear sights. The breech band, breech plate, and other brass elements are engraved with floral and animal designs, including a lion design on the right side of the butt. Ii Naosuke (1815-1860), a daimyo and Tairo, was responsible for signing the Harris Treaty which opened Japan up to trade with United States and thus also helped bring modern firearms to Japan.

Rating Definition:

Fine with dark brown patina, light pitting, and minor oxidation on the iron, aged patina on the brass and inlays, and various minor marks. The stock is very good and has minor nicks and scratches. Mechanically needs work; the sear does not always securely engage the serpentine.
