Description:

Measuring 19 inches long, the blade features a 14 1/2 inch cutting edge, slightly wavy hamon and a set of single fullers which run 1 3/4 inches below the silver-finished copper habaki. The tang is well aged, with two mekugi-ana, a squared-off base, and possible remnants of a signature on the lower left side. The signature is attributed by the consignor as that of a 2nd generation Osafune smith. With a set of shirasaya fittings, a red cloth sword bag, and a reduced-size copy of a set of "origami" paperwork (untranslated).

Rating Definition:

Fine overall. Areas of open grain are visible on the blade, especially on the right side and in the fullers, with a strong hamon and a fine bright steel appearance overall. The tang is well aged, and the fittings show minor handling marks and dings.
