Description:

Measuring 22 inches in overall length with a 16 inch blade showing a wavy hamon and attractive grain set into a striped and silver-plated habaki. The tsuba is round iron construction, with light gold accents and engraving on both sides, gold accented floral patterns on the fuchi, and a black cord wrap over menuki patterned after a horse throwing its rider. The tang has a square cut back, with two mekugi-ana and a two-figure signature on the left side. The saya is finished in brown lacquer with black lacquer accents. With an untranslated photocopy of a set of authenticity papers. Consignor notes attribute the sword to a second generation Nagamitsu smith about 1394.

Rating Definition:

Good overall. The blade has been heavily cleaned, with traces of the hamon still visible and a few thin openings in the grain. The tsuba shows a fine antique brown patina, with mild wear and handling on the hilt. The saya is fair, with some cracks and scuffs.
