Browned twist black powder only barrels signed "COLT’S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A." on the rib, 2 ½ inch chambers, bored approximately improved cylinder and ¼ choke, border engraved frame and rebounding locks each with original faded casehardened finish, each lock is signed "COLT’S PT. F. A. MFG. CO.," blued top lever, well figured 13 ½ inch pistol grip stock, checkered grip and forend with lever-catch release and ebonized tip, border engraved blued trigger guard, border engraved steel buttplate and unmarked silver escutcheon. There are contemporary London black powder proofmarks. Weight 7 lbs. 4 oz. Barrel measurements: right proved at 13, measuring .720+, minimum wall thickness 31; left proved at 12, measuring .739+, minimum wall thickness 18.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrels retain 95% of older rebrowned finish with some wear to at the muzzles, breech ends and edges of the rib. Rib signature is clear and sharp. There is a patch of very light surface corrosion to the right barrel which has discolored the finish. The action and locks retain 30% original faded casehardened finish, much stronger in sheltered areas, engraving and lock signature clear and sharp. The trigger guard retains 95% of older reblued finish with engraving clear and sharp. Buttplate has some surface discoloration and 30% original faded casehardened finish. Stock has minor storage and handling marks and bruising and sharp checkering. Barrels are loose on the action.
