Description:

Manufactured in 1900. The factory letter lists this revolver with a 7 1/2 inch barrel in .44-40 caliber, blue finish and type of stocks not listed when it was sold to Alpine Cotton Mills of Morganton, NC, and shipped to William Read & Sons of Boston, MA, on April 19, 1900. Alpine Cotton Mills, also known as Dunavant Cotton Manufacturing Company, was used as a cotton textile mill from the late 1880s until 1949. Today it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The barrel has the one-line address and "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" stamped markings. The left side of the frame has the two-line patent dates followed by a circled Rampant Colt. Matching numbers are on the frame, trigger guard and back strap.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 70% plus original blue finish with the balance between smooth brown and gray patina. There is some minor pitting limited to the cylinder and some dings on the butts. The hammer and frame retain 80% original vivid case colors. The grips are also very fine showing some minor dings towards the bottoms and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
