Description:

Offered here are two Colt SSA that were manufactured in 1923 and shipped to Baltimore retailer in 1924. Each revolver comes with a Colt factory letter which lists the revolvers with a 7 1/2 inch barrel in .45 caliber, blue finish and type of stocks not listed when they were sold to William McCallister & Sons (address unknown) and shipped to Carlin & Fulton, Baltimore, Maryland. Each revolver was part of a single gun shipment and left the factory on different days in June 1924. Gun "A" was shipped on June 23, 1924, and gun "B" was shipped on June 16, 1924. The barrels have the one-line Hartford address on top and "45 COLT" on the left side, and the left side of the frames have the two-line patent dates followed by a Rampant Colt. Matching serial numbers are found on the frames, cylinders, trigger guards and back straps. Although each grip panel is numbered to the respective gun, the grips are from a period retailer and feature a relief carved steer head. The steer head on gun "A" is featured on the left panel while on gun "B" the steer head is on the right panel. Comes with a floral tooled Heiser holster rig.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 90% plus of the original blue finish with the balance thinning to a brown and cycling marks on the cylinder. 95% plus original case colors remain on the hammer and frame. The grips are also excellent with some minor handling evidence and a crisp carving. Mechanically excellent. The holster rig is fine showing common flex wear. The stitching is tight. A pair of factory documented SAAs with steer head relief carved grips shipped to the same Baltimore retailer in June 1924 that will make a grand statement in even the most advance Colt collection.
