Description:

Manufactured from 1915 to 1942. This revolver features fabulous near full coverage cattlebrand and scroll engraving on a punch dot background. This motif was an extremely rare and highly desirable pattern developed in the late 1940s that depicted all the of more prominent and historic Texas cattlebrand used in the 1880s and early 1900s. The engraving on this revolver has the recognizable "Lazy 2 P", "XIT" and many other famous Texas brands. Jink Howard, the author of the book "Cole Agee, Texas Engraver," attributes the engraving to Master Engraver Cole Agee in an accompanying signed letter dated April 11, 2011. Jink's book is included. A Redfield beaded sight has been fitted to the shortened barrel which retains partial S&W markings. The frame retains the S&W logo on the left side and "MADE in U.S.A." on the right side. Matching serial numbers are on the butt, barrel and cylinder.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as modified and professionally embellished (see above). The revolver retains 95% plus of the blue finish showing some minor high edge wear and a couple areas thinned to brown. The engraving is crisp. The ill-fitting grips are fine with three small missing surface chips. Mechanically excellent.
