Manufactured in 1878. The barrel is signed "COLT’S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A. DEPOT 14. PALL MALL LONDON", and the frame has the patent dates to "JAN. 19.– 75." on the left side. Blue barrel, cylinder and grip straps, and casehardened hammer and frame. The trigger guard is marked "45 CAL B" on the left side. It has a one-piece walnut grip and contemporary London black powder proofmarks. Ownership of this revolver is attributed to the Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes family (the explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes is the current 3rd Baronet, and his sons Ralph and Joseph are both actors).

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel, ejector rod housing and cylinder each retaining 75% original blue with some flaking and scattered patches of surface corrosion. Frame and hammer retaining 85% original casehardened finish with some fading in exposed areas, stronger in sheltered areas, some minor loss mostly localized to the right side of the frame, some scattered corrosion spotting with a larger patch of spotting and discoloration to the top strap. The grip straps retain 90% original blue finish with some flaking and minor loss and some scattered spots of discoloration. The grip has mostly light storage and handling marking, bruising and some rubbing to bottom edges on each side. Cylinder locks up well.
