Manufactured in Canada by Long Branch of Ontario and later inspected at the London Proof House, this is an exceptional 1945 production Long Branch SMLE Number No4 MKI rifle upgraded to the "T" sniper pattern. Introduced for WW II, the No4 MKI T was the go-to sniper rifle for Great Britain and the Commonwealth of Nations for decades. Blade front and folding peep rear sights with the fixed "battle sight" properly absent from the latter for scope clearance, with the Long Branch markings on the left side of the receiver, "crown/GP" London proofs on multiple parts, and the tonnage marks on the right side of the muzzle. The proper two-piece mounts are installed on the receiver, with the replacement scope base numbered "90L8273", and the scope is marked as a C Number 32 MK 3, and marked "C O S 2039A/R.E.L. CANADA/348-C/(broad arrow)", with "CB" in blue and "W" in red. The stock is marked with "broad arrow in C" proofs, with a raised cheekpiece and a blackened steel buttplate. Included with the rifle is a yellow painted hardwood transport case with a hand-numbered info card on one end, "BA8738 RIFLE NO4 MKI QTY 1/T .LESS TELESCOPE" in black stencil on one side, and an inventory list inside the lid, with a canvas covered scope case.

Excellent, with 97% plus of the original blue finish, showing some light edge wear and handling marks overall. The stock is very good, with some light dings and dents. The scope is also excellent, with some light exterior wear and clear optics, and the case is good as repainted, with some stains and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
