Developed after WWII, the SKS was designed based on lessons learned in combat with the Germans, making them among the first post-war global powers to adopt an intermediate-range cartridge for their main infantry rifle. Post front and tangent rear sights, with the Ishevsk "arrow in star" mark and "1954r" on the receiver cover, and matching numbers on multiple components including the stock. The barrel is "CAI" marked. Smooth stock, with a small (empty) tool holder in the buttstock.
