Manufactured in 1956. White front bead sight and nickel mid bead sight on the vent rib, choked skeet, and 2 3/4 inch chamber. The left side of the barrel at the breech is marked with the three-line Winchester/trade mark/made in U.S.A. marking followed by "MODEL 12 - 28 GA - 2 3/4 CHAM/--WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL--" over "SKEET". The top left of the frame and top left of the barrel at the breech are marked with the Winchester oval proof. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame and breech end of the magazine extension with a pigeon engraved on the magazine tube. Gold washed trigger, blue finish, jeweled follower and bolt, and mounted with a fancy checkered select walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a hard Winchester grip cap and checkered buttplate. Length of pull is 14 1/4 inches, drop at the heel is 2 inches and drop at the comb is 1 3/8 inches. Comes with a hand written letter from George Madis verifying the originality, configuration, grade and features and a cover letter (photocopy) from George Madis stating that this shotgun was part of a collection of 9 Model 12s in 28 gauge that he examined. Complete with the box and interior cardboard compartments. The reproduction end label is marked "WINCHESTER SPECIAL VENTILATED RIB" and "HAMMERLESS REPEATING SKEET GUN" and ink stamped "SPECIAL SELECT WOOD". It is also marked with the correct barrel length, choke and gauge.

Near mint with 98% plus original blue finish with a very small area on the underside of the magazine tube thinning, and overall only light handling/storage marks. Mechanically excellent. The box is good with one separated and torn corner, and some wear and staining.
