The included Cody Firearms Museum Records data sheet confirms with serial number, barrel length, sights, grade, gauge, and configuration. It also states the completion date as March 27, 1935 for William A. Shryer's Sons. White bead front and steel bead mid sights on the concave matte rib barrel with 2 3/4 inch chambers, automatic ejectors, standard markings and Winchester proofs on the flats and water table, and "WS-1/WS-2" marked chokes. The receiver is engraved in the factory 21-4 pattern with splashes of fine scroll and oval shaped game bird scenes on the sides with grouse on the right and pheasants on the left. The underside is engraved with a single retriever dog. Though the records document does not list engraving, the consignor attributes the engraving to Winchester Master Engraver George Ulrich (1933-1949) due to the high level of detail and the anatomical correctness of the dog. Single trigger with selector and tang mounted manual safety. With a trap style beavertail forearm with "kidney" pattern checkering, inset silver arrow head near the tip, and matching serial numbers on the wood and attaching metal. Multi-point checkered pistol grip buttstock with an engraved silver maple leaf on the grip end, silver initial oval inscribed "ROBERT/PATTERSON/1935/DAYTON, O", and checkered bare butt. The barrel and stock measurements are: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech .732/.732 inch; minimum wall thickness .035/.035 inch; drop at comb 1 3/8 inches; drop at heel 1 7/8 inches; length of pull 14 inches.

Very fine as period custom engraved of factory pattern. Possibly factory refinished blue finish remains with some bright wear under the forearm, some spotty gray/brown patina on the trigger plate, some scattered surface scratches, and a mostly gray patina on the trigger guard. The wood is fine as refinished and stock dimensions slightly altered. With crisp checkering, scattered small dings, and some light scratches. There is a small repaired chip at the rear left of the forearm. Mechanically excellent
