Description:

Manufactured prior to the outbreak of WW II, this pistol falls near the very end of the estimated serial number range of 785,000-899,500 cited by Rankin and shows the distinctive features of the "PDM" PPK, including the "duralumin" alloy frame, heel-mounted magazine release, and widened muzzle with appropriately adjusted slide. Positive evidence is not available, but the "PDM" marked Walthers are associated with the police forces in Munich, particularly during Heinrich Himmler's tenure as provisional president of the Munich Police. Fixed sights, with the Walther banner, two-line address and caliber markings and "Mod PPK" on the left side of the slide, "crown/N" proofs on the slide, chamber hood and muzzle, and "PDM/401" on the left side of the frame. The interior of the slide is properly hand-numbered to the pistol. Fitted with an early 90 degree safety, ring hammer, smooth trigger, checkered wraparound grips, and a proper un-notched full blue magazine with brown plastic base. With a brown leather Albrecht Kind holster ink-stamped for the PPK on the interior and a replacement spare flat base magazine (traditional style with the magazine cut but compatible with the pistol.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall. The blued slide shows 85% plus of the original finish, with some bright wear concentrated on the leading edges and mild spotting and handling marks, while the black anodized frame shows 70% finish, with some light scratches on the front strap and bright wear on the high edges and grip area. The grip is very good, with some light warping along the front. Moderate cracks and scuffs are present on the otherwise fine holster. Mechanically excellent.
