Description:

Manufactured 1909-1928 and patterned after the "Papa Nambu" pistol, the Baby Nambu was the semi-official officer's pistol of the Imperial Japanese military. Developed as a home-grown alternative to imported American and European pocket-sized handguns, the Baby Nambu was sold through the military officer's union system for private purchase. Fixed sights, with the "cannonball" logo on top of the chamber, the three-symbol Nambu nomenclature and serial number on the right side of the frame, checkered hardwood grips, and straw finished small parts. Matching numbers are present on multiple components. One nickel-finished magazine, numbered "5475", is included as is a period custom made brown leather holster.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with 60% of the original blue finish, showing some scattered scratches, mild pitting touched up with cold blue, light handling marks and a few areas of brown and gray patina. Some traces of straw color are present in the protected areas. The grips are good, with some scratches and dings. The holster appears to have been improvised from field-sourced material, and shows some scuffs, cracks and a few areas of lost stitching. Mechanically very good.
