Manufactured in 1909. Single bead sight with a matted sighting plane, standard barrel markings, 2 3/4 inch chamber, full choke, and Winchester "WP" proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech. The receiver is fully engraved with splashes of tight scroll, and highly detailed panel scenes. The left side of the receiver is engraved with a live pigeon shoot scene of a man sitting at a table choosing which box to open, a man standing after just firing a shot at a pigeon in the air, and a man crouched down handling a retrieving dog with five dead birds behind him. The scene is so detailed you can see a shot cloud about to hit the bird and two other men with shotguns in the background. The right side shows a rolling hills scene with a man holding a Model 1897, a dog retrieving the first dead bird, a second dead bird is laying on the ground, a third falling out of the air, and a fourth is about to be hit with a shot cloud. The top of the receiver is matted and engraved with roses at the front and four leaf clovers at the rear. The bolt is correctly inscribed "PIGEON GUN" Checkered forearm and fancy figured walnut straight grip stock with ebony diamond inlays on either side of the wrist with a checkered Winchester hard rubber buttplate. Stock measurements are: drop at comb 1 3/4 inches; drop at heel 2 1/8 inches; length of pull 13 3/4 inches.

Exceptionally fine. 75% original blue finish remains with slide retraction marks on the magazine tube, scattered dings, traces of light surface pitting, sharp markings, and areas of a patchy brown patina on the magazine collar and receiver. The engraving is crisp and highly detailed. The wood is fine with numerous small dings and scratches on the buttstock, tight metal to wood fit, and well-defined checkering. Mechanically excellent.
