The barrel has blade and notch sights and is signed "~Gary R Bowman 1987~." The rifle has masterfully executed engraving and raised relief carving that includes eagles on the side plate and patch box side plates as well as the left side of the butt. The patterns contain a mix of traditional and contemporary elements. It is equipped with a late 18th century style nickel silver lock numbered "F4297B" on the back side and double set triggers. The curly maple stock has beautiful flame figure, silver wire scroll designs around the brass cross pin plates, and fine molding work throughout..

Very fine overall with virtually all of the original brown finish on the barrel, light patina forming on the bright components, slight handling and storage wear, crisp carving and engraving, and bright wear on the frizzen's battery face. Mechanically excellent.
