Description:

Built on a 1942 manufactured Remington Model 1903A3 receiver with sightless heavy weight stainless steel barrel. Known as a Mann Accuracy Device, after renowned ballistics experimenter Dr. Franklin W. Mann. These rifles were built specifically for the purpose of checking the accuracy of the ammunition being fired and were fired from a fixed bench rest. The barrel is marked "RIFLE, ACCURACY/7.62MM - D7553790" just forward of the breech/collar and "127" on the top and underside of the barrel to the rear of the muzzle. The underside of the barrel is also stamped with Remington maker's marks. The receiver has standard 03A3 markings, and the bolt has been numbered to the gun with an electric pencil. The stock has been cut down to a simple pistol style grip for ease of use in the bench device and has a single "RA" stamp on the right side. Includes CMP bill of sale noting the rifle by serial number.

Rating Definition:

Fine as arsenal converted with 90% of the dark post-war parkerized finish, some scattered surface scratches, handling marks overall, and some light cycling wear. The barrel has scattered dings and scratches and some mild discoloration around the muzzle. The stock is good with a visible crack at the forend, some small dings, and some chipping around the sharply cut butt end. An interesting and scarce tool in the world of ballistics research and ammunition testing!
