The documentation for this rifle includes a July 2006 dated, signed letter from Herbert Lynn Parsons M.D. identifying the rifle by serial number with the scope, as being directly from the estate of famed Winchester exhibition shooter Herbert "Herb" Parsons. Also included with the rifle is a copy of a list of Presentation Winchesters from George Madis which lists this rifle by serial number, a Winchester coin (like those used in exhibition shooting) with a copy of a letter from one G.B. Stumpp (a former Winchester sales representative who worked to organize exhibitions for Parsons), and 8x10 black and white photograph of Herb Parsons holding a Model 70 rifle with scope. The back of the photo notes that the pictured rifle is the same as this one and is identified by serial number. The June 2009 edition of "American Rifleman" is also included which contains an article on Parsons on page 54. Beaded blade front with a hood and flip up rear notch sights, standard barrel markings and Winchester "WP" proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech. Receiver is fitted with a Pachmayr scope base and All-Weather scope. The bolt is numbered to the gun, and the floor plate is marked "-SUPER GRADE-". Fancy checkered stock with black forend cap, blue steel grip cap, raised cheekpiece, and checkered steel buttplate.

Fine. 80% plus original blue finish remains with some scattered light surface scratches, light edge wear, cycling marks on the bolt, and handling marks mostly on the bolt handle. The refinished stock is very good with areas of chipped varnish, small dings, crisp checkering, and some larger dents on the butt. Mechanically excellent. The scope is fine with fading anodized finish around the eyepiece, scattered scratches, and clear optics. A fine piece from the collection of one of the top names in Winchester exhibition shooting.
