Description:

John Martz (d. 2013) is known as the foremost name of custom Luger conversions, most famously his "Baby" compact variant, the MSTR toggle release safety lever, and the 45 ACP big bore. This example started life as a DWM commercial "blank chamber" Luger and has been built up into a full sized carbine. Ramped bead blade front sight with a two-position "Navy" profile rear sight on the rear toggle link, a "crown/N" proof on the left side of the extension and a "DWM" monogram on the front toggle link. The frame has been fitted with a forearm iron (sans barrel booster assembly), with "JVM" and "37" marked underneath the side plate. The grips are fine checkered walnut, with matching color and grain in the schnabel tip forearm and the straight wrist stock with matching numbered iron. Included with the lot are two magazines, both with matching colored "JVM" marked bases with decorative concentric circle patterns on the sides.

Rating Definition:

Near mint as custom made, with 98% of the bright polished steel finish, showing mild spotting concentrated on the front strap and some light handling marks. Bright straw color is present on the small parts, along with bright niter blue on the sear spring. The wood is near mint, with sharp checkering and attractive grain.
