Manufactured in 1978. It has level B engraving consisting of traditional scrollwork with dot backgrounds. The left side of the front strap has the factory "COLT ENG." marking confirming the factory work. All the numbers match throughout, and the other markings and features are all standard. A Colt Custom Shop burnt orange lined display case with a "FROM THE COLT CUSTOM GUN SHOP" card is included. 40% of the factory engraved .45 Colt SAAs were in this configuration per Wilkerson.

Excellent overall with 99% original finish remaining, showing only some light handling and storage marks, some very slight limited spotting on the frame and hammer, and a small spot of what looks like gold in one of the scrolls on the cylinder. The grips have some minor discoloration on the butt and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is fair with moderate overall storage wear including mildew stains.
