Manufactured by the iconic London firm of Holland & Holland with chopper-lump barrels. The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was completed on March 10, 1926. Single brass bead sight on the smooth concave rib, 2 3/4 inch chambers, auto ejectors, improved modified/improved modified chokes, and flourishes of leafy scroll on top of the rib at the breech, as well as a gold "1". The barrels are marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" on the right and "98 NEW BOND STREET, LONDON" on the left. The barrel flats and water table feature standard British viewing and nitro proofs. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of each barrel, forend hardware, water table, and lower tang. The frame and detachable side locks are highly engraved in swirling English scroll with gold-highlighted cocking indicators and "SAFE" marking. Each side plate is marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND". The break lever is marked "ROYAL/EJECTOR" and with a gold "1". The bottom of the frame is marked "ROYAL/SELF-OPENER/PATENT/1922". Mounted on a finely figured multi-point checkered splinter forearm and straight grip stock with tear drop flats, checkered bare butt and gold initial oval. Barrel and stock measurements are: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech .619/.618+ inches; wall thickness at 9 inches from breech .038/.038 inches; minimum wall thickness .026 and .021, drop at comb 1 3/8 inches; drop at heel 2 1/4 inches; length of pull 14 5/8 inches.

Excellent with 98% of the reblued finish and 95% original casehardened finish remaining, showing some minor edge wear, and a few minor handling marks. All of the gold inlay remains. The wood shows a few minor dents, dings and handling marks. The checkering is crisp. The engraving and markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
