Dual white bead sights on the smooth concave solid rib with a partial illegible marking near the breech end. The locks, frame, hammers, trigger guard and lever are engraved with fine English scroll, and in addition the locks are engraved with a scene of a hunting dog and game bird, and each is marked "J.R. COOPER" in a banner. The barrels appear to have been brown at one point and the remaining metal surfaces casehardened. Mounted with a walnut checkered splitter forearm and pistol grip stock converted from a straight grip, with a horn grip cap and smooth buttplate. Length of pull is 14 1/8 inches. The shotgun comes in a wooden case with green felt lining and a David Nixon, Newark Gunmaker label on the inside of the lid. In the case are three reloading tools, (re/deprimer tool marked "BRIDGEPORT/GI. CO/1185" and "12/A"), three partially full tins of primers, (2 Winchester, 1 Woods), one powder and one shot measurer thirteen 12 gauge shells and one 12 gauge case. Also comes with a table style wooden stand which accommodates the case, measuring approximately 15 1/2 inches tall, 33 1/2 inches long and 11 inches wide. A second case is also included. This case is leather bound and contains 41 brass 12 gauge cases in a green case, two primer tools (handle broken on one of the tools), partially filled bag of shot and bore pull through brush.

Good. The barrels have blotchy areas of brown finish, with a gray patina on the balance and some scattered minor pitting, mainly on the breech end. The remaining metal surfaces have a smooth gray and brown patina, with much of the original vivid case colors visible on the water table. The forearm lug on the bottom of the barrels has been rewelded. As noted above the barrel markings are illegible. The engraving and lock marking are clear. The wood is very good with a small 1 1/2 inch splinter on the upper right edge of the forearm, some minor dings, scratches and chips on the refinished and freshened checkering stock, and some insect damage and a chip on the grip cap. The action is excellent. The case is good with some minor scratches on the exterior, some wear and staining on the lining and one compartment wall is separated. The shotgun fits in the case only after a partitioned wall is removed. The stand is very good with some minor scuffs and scratches. The second case is fair.
