Description:

This is a solid representative example of a desirable World War I Red 9 Mauser Broomhandle rig. Blade front and 500-meter tangent rear sights, with the three-line address on the top chamber flat, "crown/crown/U" on the chamber and bolt, "crown/gothic letter" on the right side of the chamber and the two-line address on the right side of the frame. External numbers are matching overall with a New Safety hammer, slotted back strap, and matching numbered 25-groove grips with a branded and red-filled "9" on each panel. Included with the pistol is a matching numbered shoulder stock holster with a faintly marked 1918 dated brown leather belt harness, a wood handled cleaning rod and an extra magazine spring.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine with 85% plus of the original blue finish, showing some edge wear, spotting and light handling marks. A small manufacturing flaw is visible on the right side of the frame immediately behind the floor plate. The reoiled grips are very fine with some excess varnish on the metal, and a few light dings and dents on the otherwise very good grips. The stock is fine as refinished, with some cracking around the lid button and traces of sanded-off hand markings on the exterior. The very good harness shows cracking and wear appropriate to age. Mechanically excellent.
