Description:

This is a very rare example of an all matching Mauser Persian contract artillery Luger rig manufactured circa 1935/36. There were a total of 2,000 Persian contract Lugers manufactured. 1,000 four-inch barreled models and 1,000, eight-inch Artillery models. The Artillery model was an exact duplicate of the WWI German Artillery Luger except all the markings and numbering are in Farsi. The chamber area of the pistol is marked with the Persian crest with the front toggle also marked in Farsi for the Mauser factory. The left side of the barrel extension is marked in Farsi, and the left side is marked with the Mauser crown over "U" commercial proofmark. The full serial 3871 (marked in Farsi) is marked on the front of the frame and the left side of the barrel extension, and the last two digits of the serial number (71), also in Farsi, are marked on each part. It is fitted with a set of unnumbered checkered walnut grips. This Luger is complete with its original and matching wooden shoulder stock, with the unnumbered attaching iron, and three original matching nickel-plated magazines with aluminum bases, its original light brown leather holster and magazine pouch. The holster has its original unmarked take down tool and cleaning rod. The pistol has the standard blue finish with straw colored small components.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 90% plus of the original blue finish remaining showing wear and blue loss on the edges and high spots, muzzle side plate, front frame rails with thinning and light spotting on the grip straps. The smaller parts retain 75% of their thinning straw colors overall. The grips are very fine with a matching dark color showing light wear across the tops of the checkering, mixed with a few minor handling marks on the sides. The artillery board stock is fine with a nice medium brown color showing numerous handling marks and light scratches on the sides with 90% of the blue finish on the unnumbered attaching iron. The holster, straps and magazine pouch are good plus with general light scuffing overall, the holster and magazine pouch showing some light wrinkling/age cracking on the face of the leather, with slight more age cracking on the straps and a detached closure strap. Complete rigs of Persian Artilleries are seldom see and hardly ever seen in this condition, making this a true rarity, and one would be hard pressed to find its equal.
