Manufactured in May of 1942. Blade front and adjustable peep rear sights, with a "BATTLE RANGE" elevation knob, locking bar, and a Springfield "S-A-4-42" barrel. The bolt, trigger housing, hammer, safety and uncut operating rod are all Springfield components. Smooth pistol grip stock, with a circled serifed "P" on the grip, Springfield "S.A./E.McF" inspector cartouche and "inverted crossed cannon" stamp on the left side, a brown leather sling, oiler, and a pull-through barrel cleaner. Provenance: Bruce Canfield collection.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 85% plus original parkerized finish, showing a few small areas of gray and brown patina, minor handling marks and some bright edge wear. A rougher texture is present on the bolt catch and the gas cylinder. The very fine stock shows a few dings and pressure dents, with generally attractive grain and legible markings, and the sling shows mild scuffs and cracks but generally remains supple. Mechanically excellent.
