Description:

Manufactured by the Union Switch & Signal Co. (US&S) at an unknown date, this pistol has the US&S markings on the slide and no markings on the frame; no serial number, no Army nomenclature or inspection stamps. Sometimes referred to as "lunch box guns" due to the old legend of employees building their own pistols at home by smuggling a few rejected parts at a time home in their lunchboxes, these pistols were sometimes early stage experimental/developmental weapons, made to test machinery and procedures before starting or introducing a change to production. Fixed sights, with a stamped short trigger, knurled thin hammer, checkered slide stop, thumb safety and arched mainspring housing, early pattern "unribbed" grips and a High Standard barrel. A small metal tag numbered "7532" is included.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with 60% of the period "presentation style" blue finish, showing a mixed gray patina on the grip straps and along the edges, as well as scattered spotting and light handling marks overall. Many of the metal surfaces have an "underpolished" appearance, with machining lines visible beneath the bluing, particularly on the left side of the frame and around the rear sight, which shows a few dings. The grips are also very good, with some light dings. Mechanically excellent.
