Manufactured in 1864. The barrel has the one-line New York address, the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side, the left side of the trigger guard is marked "31 CAL," and the cylinder has the stagecoach holdup scene. Matching serial numbers are found on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap, cylinder, arbor pin and wedge. The loading lever is un-numbered. The partitioned cased is lined in velvet and contains lead balls, "COLTS/PATENT" marked iron double cavity bullet mold, double face eagle powder flask, Eley percussion cap tin and sealed package of combustible envelope cartridges.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel and cylinder retain 80% original blue finish with the balance thinning to a brown. The loading lever, hammer and frame retain 70% original case colors. Nearly all of the cylinder scene remains. The grip straps retain strong amounts of original silver plating in the protected areas. The grip is near excellent with a barely noticeable hairline crack near the top (left side), a few minor pressure dents and retaining most of the original varnish. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine showing faded lining with high spot wear, a couple cracks along the grain on the exterior of the lid and handling/storage marks.
