Description:

Colt Pocket Navy Conversion revolver with 4 1/2 inch barrel manufactured circa 1874. The revolver has the Colt high polish, commercial blue, finish on the octagon barrel and cylinder. The frame, hammer conversion ring and loading gate are casehardened with vivid case colors. The brass trigger guard and back strap are silver-plated. The one-piece walnut stock has a high polish piano finish. This factory conversion has a percussion barrel with plugged loading lever cut-out, rebated cylinder with machined breech end, modified frame for conversion plate, loading port and gate and hammer with rimfire firing pin. The loading gate has an internal spring. The hammer spur has bordered knurling. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped "ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA". "COLTS/PATENT" is stamped in two lines on the left side of the frame. The percussion marking "36 CAL" is stamped on the left shoulder of the trigger guard. The cylinder is roll-engraved with the Stagecoach Holdup Scene and "COLTS PATENT". The full serial number, "4832" is stamped on the bottom of the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard and back strap. The partial serial number, "832" is stamped on the cylinder. All of the visible serial numbers match.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus. The barrel and cylinder retain 99% of the bright original high polish commercial blue finish. The cylinder has 100% of the holdup scene; wear is limited to some light turn marks between the stops. The frame, hammer, conversion ring and loading gate has 98% vivid case colors. The brass trigger guard and back strap retains 95% of the delicate silver-plated finish with some on edges and contact points. The walnut grip is in excellent plus condition and has at least 98% of the high polish piano finish. This is a near new example of a Colt Pocket Navy Conversion revolver that would be extremely difficult to improve upon.
