Description:

5,000 of the estimated 5,800 manufactured were produced under contract for the U.S. Government in early 1865, but they were delivered too late to see use in the Civil War. Most were sold via Bannerman's in the early 20th century. This example has standard single letter inspection marks throughout and the "RPB" cartouche of inspector Captain R. P. Barry on the left grip. Standard top strap marking and matching numbers on the butt, loading lever, barrel, cylinder, and both grip panels.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 75% plus original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. There are a couple patches of minor pitting on the frame. 60% of dark muted original case colors remain on the hammer and loading lever, otherwise faded to a gray. The grips are also very fine showing some minor dings and scratches and a crisp cartouche. Mechanically excellent.
