Description:

This rifle has "E. LOOMIS" on top of the barrel, "REMINGTON/CAST STEEL" above the bolster, "REMINGTON" on the lock which also has scroll and hunting themed engraving, a "G.A. KENYON/MAKER" marked scope, pewter forend cap, German silver trigger guard, iron butt and toe plates, and engrave German silver inlays including several animals. The crocodile/alligator on the cheek piece is particularly interesting given this rifle originates from New York and crocodilians are rarely seen among the ornamentation of antique firearms. The star design on the left side of the butt also includes a small cap box. The original sight dovetails are empty to accommodate the long scope.

Rating Definition:

Very good with mostly smooth brown patina on the iron along with some generally light oxidation and pitting, mild aging of the German silver, mostly crisp markings and engraving, separated horizontal crack visible above the lock, light scratches and dings throughout the stock, and some small surface chips. The scope needs some work (possibly just lens cleaning). Mechanically fine.
