Description:

Around 5,000 of these carbines were manufactured by Richardson & Overman of Philadelphia in early 1865. At least half of them were later sold to the French during the Franco-Prussian War. This cartridge model is essentially the same as the earlier percussion variation aside from the firing pin in place of the nipple and a cartridge extractor. This example has the standard markings and features.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 70% original blue finish, 50% plus original case colors, light surface scratches, patches of minor surface oxidation, minor dings and scratches, and crisp markings. The buttstock is excellent with crisp cartouche and a few scattered storage dings overall. Mechanically excellent.
