Description:

The Model 1833 is historically significant as the first percussion firearm adopted by the U.S. Government and also the first U.S. martial arm to employ an underbarrel bayonet that slides into the ramrod channel. 1,028 were manufactured in .58 caliber in 1834 and 6,135 were manufactured in .52 caliber in 1836-1839, all by Simeon North in Middletown, Connecticut. This example comes from the first year of production (1834). "N.W.P" inspectors marks on left side of breech. This variation was issued to the 1st U.S. Dragoons at Fort Gibson in the Arkansas Territory and used into the early Civil War. It has standard markings and features.

Rating Definition:

Fair with light to mild pitting, fairly bright surfaces, some lacquer staining, and general minor marks and scratches. The heavily sanded stock is fair as revarnished and repaired (toe) and has minor marks and scratches. Mechanically fine.
