Description:

Manufactured from 1874-1878. The barrel rib is marked "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A. PAT. JULY 10. 60. JAN. 17. FEB. 17. JULY 11. 65 & AUG.24. 69. RUSSIAN MODEL" followed by "REISSUE/JULY 25.1871." "Reissue" marked Russians are found in the 1-9,000 serial number range, presumably for commercial sales. The butt has a lanyard ring and "1874" stamped above the serial number. The right grip panel is numbered to a different gun. Matching serial numbers on the butt, cylinder, barrel latch and barrel.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The revolver retains some generous amounts of original blue finish in and around the protected areas (mostly on the frame) with the balance a smooth brown-gray patina. The grips are fine with some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
