This is a very nice example of a factory engraved Merwin Hulbert & Co. revolver. The barrel, cylinder and frame are adorned with simple floral scroll and punch dot designs. In addition, the left side of the frame has a round panel with a mountainous shoreline scene and there is a decorative shield on the right side. The standard Merwin & Hulbert address followed by numerous patent dates marked on top of the barrel and the one-line Hopkins & Allen address on the left. The serial number is marked on the butt and the matching assembly number "5761" is marked on the rear cylinder face, rear of the barrel lug and on the cylinder pin. Integral front blade sight, open top frame with a frame notch rear sight and scoop type cylinder flutes. Nickel finish with casehardened trigger, trigger guard and hammer and fitted with smooth pearl grips with a lanyard ring on the butt.

Fine. The revolver retains 40% original nickel plating with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The hammer shows strong faded original case colors. The grips are fine with a small chip on the lower left panel and a few minor handling marks. The markings and engraving are sharp. The action is fine.
