The cylinder is marked with the inspection letters "P" and "D.F.C.", and the partial serial number "6131". The bottom of the frame above the serial number is marked "D.F.C." and there is a letter "G" below the serial number on the trigger guard and back strap. The letter "J" is stamped in the hammer well. The matching serial number is marked on the frame, trigger guard and back strap. Blade front and frame notch rear sights, oval ejector rod head, and fitted with a smooth one-piece walnut grip with "1885" over an oval "JH" cartouche on the left side, no marking visible on the right side and "DFC" on the bottom right side.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel and cylinder are a mix of 50% original blue finish and brown patina with some scattered light spotting. The grip straps have a smooth brown patina with 25% original blue finish in the protected areas of the trigger guard. The frame has 30% original case colors the balance a smooth mottled brown patina. 60% of the original vivid case colors remain on the hammer. The grip is fine with a small gouge on the left side, an area of moderate wear on the right side, numerous dings on the bottom and numerous scattered minor dings and dents. The markings are clear. The action is excellent. This is a fine original U.S. Cavalry Colt SAA that would fit very nicely in any collection!
