Description:

Manufactured in 1893 and shipped to Montgomery Ward in Chicago that same year during the Columbian Exposition. The top of the barrel is marked with the one-line address, the left side is marked "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" and the two-line, three patent dates are marked on the left side of the frame followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The matching serial is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap, and the assembly number "886" is marked on the loading gate. Blade front, frame notch rear sights, all nickel finish and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top. "0764" is scratched into the inside of each grip panel. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, and nickel finish and the grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 of 3 to Montgomery Ward & Company in Chicago, Illinois on April 14, 1893.

Rating Definition:

Extremely fine with 90% plus original nickel finish remaining, showing some flaking on the muzzle, some minor wear in the trigger guard area and on the front strap. There are a few scattered minor dings. The grips have faded to an attractive brown and remain very fine also with light handling marks and crisp checkering. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
