Description:

Measuring 13 3/8 inches overall, with an 8 inch blade showing a strong hamon, fine grain, deep single fullers and a gilt habaki. A fine sculpted texture has been applied to the fittings, with the fuchi and koshira rendered in shakudo metal with bright gild border accents, and the narrow oval tsuba from iron, which has been darkened and carved to match. A pair of the fine gilt grass-themed menuki are present on the black cord wrapped grip. The saya has a matching set of shakudo fittings, with a black lacquer finish accented by gold lacquer grass. A maroon cloth cover is also included.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The blade shows a few dark spots, with excellent overall color and grain, and a sharply defined hamon. The fittings and saya are all excellent, with a small amount of rubbing on the habaki, a few spots of copper tone on the bright metal, and nice clean cord and lacquer. Due to the overall tightness of the fittings no inspection of the tang has been performed, but this blade and its fittings are no doubt the work of skilled artisans.
