Description:

The 31 inch, straight, single edged blade has floral and martial etching, "US" and "ONWARD/TO/VICTORY" on the left side, "COLLINS & CO./HARTFORD CONN./1862" on the left ricasso, "E PLURIBUS/UNUM" on the right side, "US" and floral designs on the pierced guard, eagle head finial with red gemstone eyes, silver plated brass grip, and leaf and floral engraving. The iron scabbard has engraved brass fittings.

Rating Definition:

Fair with traces of original silver plating, aged patina on the brass, mixed gray and brown patina and mild oxidation/pitting along the blade, minor edge and tip wear, the right eagle eye stone absent, moderate pitting on the scabbard, and some play in the fitting of the blade and grip.
