Manufactured in 1940 and subsequently upgraded to current configuration. The receiver, trigger guard, lower tang, break lever and forearm hardware are very finely decorated with a English scroll pattern. The left side of the receiver also has a field scene of two quail in flight in an oval panel, a grouse in an oval panel is on the right side, and a hunting dog with a game bird in its mouth in a round panel on the underside. Just below the panel is marked "SKEET". There is a 1 1/2 inch wedge of the same engraving on the breech end of each barrel. The left rear is marked "WINCHESTER - 20 GAUGE/2 3/4 CHAM." The underside of the Winchester proof steel barrels are marked "WS-1" and "WS-2". The right barrel has been opened up to a negative choke (bell choke). The flats are marked with the Winchester oval proof and the matching serial number. The water table is marked with the Winchester proofmark, 5 patent dates and "MADE IN U.S.A.", "MODEL 21" over the two-line address. The barrels are fitted with double bead sights on the matte concave solid rib with ejectors. Fitted with a single selective trigger and tang mounted manual safety with gold "SAFE". Mounted on a nicely figured fleur de lis checkered semi beavertail forearm and straight grip stock with a checkered bare butt and lightly engraved skeletonized buttplate. The accompanying factory letter gives previous stock dimensions, weight, regular comb width, regular grade wood, made for and order number "Stock", that inspection started on December 11, 1940, and finished on January 8, 1941. It also notes "On back of form: Fit skeet sights" and that there is no order sheet available for this serial number. The barrel and stock measurements are: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech .612/.610 inch; bore constriction .003/.007 inch; minimum wall thickness .024/.030 inch; drop at comb 1 5/8 inches, drop at heel 2 1/2 inches, length of pull 14 1/8 inches; cast neutral. Weight is 6 lbs. 10 oz.

Professionally custom embellished and restocked to near mint with 99% plus blue finish remaining showing only light handling marks. The wood also shows only light handling marks and sharp checkering. The engraving and markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
