Description:

Around 20,202 Second Model/Model 1863 Maynard carbines were manufactured in 1863 to 1865 for use by the Union Cavalry during the Civil War. Captured Second Model Maynards and the First Models purchased before the war were also popular with Confederate troops. This example has the standard markings and features. The stock has "GWS" and "JM" cartouches.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall with 90% plus original finish, 85% original case colors, some slight spotting, minor edge wear, and light marks and scratches. The buttstock is also very fine. The markings, including the cartouches, are crisp, and it is mechanically excellent.
