Manufactured in 1929, the first year of production, with this example have a two digit serial number, "81." The accompanying factory letter lists this pistol with a 5 inch barrel in .38 Super, blue finish and type of stocks not listed (currently pearl) when shipped to A.M. Holter Hardware Co. of Helena, Montana, on February 23, 1929 as a gear shipment. The slide has the two line address/patent dates on the left side and "COLT SUPER/AUTOMATIC" followed by a Rampant Colt on the right side. The trigger guard has the number "1" and Colt triangle proof on the left side and the number "20" on the right side. Comes with a two-tone magazine with Colt markings.

Excellent. The pistol retains 95% original blue finish showing some thinning on the grip straps, some scattered minor high edge wear and some minor scratches. The grips are very fine with a repair (right panel), a few minor handling marks and attractive color. Mechanically excellent. A highly attractive two digit serialized Super 38 that will be a welcomed addition to even the most advanced Colt semi-automatic pistol collections.
