Description:

Measuring 10 1/2 inches wide and approximately 136 inches in length (26.67cm x 345.44cm), this sash is constructed from red cloth, possibly rayon, with a 2 inch length of golden bullion fringe on each end. One side of each end bears a gold printed design. On one end is a Nazi Party eagle over the text "Der Fuhrer" (The Leader), and on the other is the personal standard of Adolf Hitler, measuring roughly 6 7/8 inches square. Sashes such as these would be used at German funerals, especially military ones, either draped over the casket or made part of a floral display, and often bore markings appropriate to the unit or commanders of the deceased.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The gold printing shows some flaking and loss, and a few areas of blue staining are visible, concentrated around the text. The cloth is in very good condition, with a number of storage creases, and the fringe looks solid.
