Description:

Measuring 6 3/4 inches wide, 2 inches tall and 3 7/8 inches deep, this case is constructed from 92.5 percent pure silver, and bears the hallmark "FH/W" (Franz and Hermann Wandinger, Munich) on the underside. The top of the lid is bordered in a 'key' motif, with a repoussed and engraved Nazi eagle in the center, with the letters "A" and "H" flanking the swastika. The interior is wood-lined, with a horizontal divider creating a pair of 3 inch wide compartments. While not explicitly documented, the Wandinger Brothers were a known supplier of household goods to high ranking Nazis, and this particular style of Nazi Party logo is deeply connected with the personal property of Adolf Hitler; if you sat down at the Fuehrer's dinner table, about the only things that wouldn't have that logo on them would be the guests and the food. Items so decorated were present in virtually every household maintained for Hitler, from the Reichschancellery in Berlin through any number of vacation properties and field headquarters. Many such items were lost after the war, either having been destroyed by West German authorities or having disappeared East of the Iron Curtain.

Rating Definition:

Fine. A mixed aged patina with multiple fingerprints present, with a ding on the underside and a few mild handling marks. The interior lining is a good solid fit with minimum chipping, and everything is a tight fit.
