Description:

Measuring 16 inches wide and 12 inches tall, the back of this platter bears a "BRUCKMANN" hallmark for P. Bruckmann & Sons of Heilbronn next to a faint purity stamp, and the front shows a rectangular pattern of "Greek key" linework surrounding the "Fuehreradler", a variant of the Nazi Eagle regarded as the person logo of Adolf Hitler. The eagle is rendered in engraved repousse work, with the letters "A" and "H" flanking the wreathed swastika. Virtually all of Hitler's household goods bore this symbol following the Nazi rise to power, and can also be found on personal presentation items intended to be from Hitler himself. Most of them were made by some of the top metalsmiths in Germany, often produced as full en suite sets. Few of these sets are intact, for even the most ambitious American Army treasure hunters needed to contend with the reality of limited duffle bag space.

Rating Definition:

Fine with some detail loss in the eagle and the proofmarks, as well as a mixed patina with some fingerprinting and an unidentified spot of green residue in the upper right side. A few light handling marks and scratches are also visible.
