Description:

This is a rare and very desirable 1906 DWM Commercial Luger that was marked with the French retailers name on top of the barrel and is chambered in the rare 9mm Luger cartridge. This was a very limited production run of Lugers by the DWM factory for the French Arms and Cycle Works. It is reported that approximately 10 total were made with few even known today. These Lugers fall within the standard 1906 commercial contract Lugers, a few are noted in the 47000-52000 range. The French markings rolled on top of the barrel by the DWM factory are: "Manufacture Francaise d' Armes & Cycles de Saint-Etienne". The top of the front toggle is marked with the DWM logo with the left side of the barrel extension, and the left side of the breechblock correctly marked with the Commercial Crown over "B" and "U" proofs. The underside of the barrel is also marked with the Crown over "B", "U" and "G" proofs. The front of the frame and underside of the barrel is stamped with the full serial number "47492", along with the bore diameter "118,35". It has the standard "GELADEN" marked extractor with the lower safety area correctly polished and unmarked. It is also correctly fitted with the grip safety, short standard diameter Luger barrel and no stock lug or hold open device. It has a rust blued finish with straw colored small parts such as the trigger, takedown lever, safety lever, ejector, magazine release button. It is fitted with a set of checkered walnut grips and is complete with one nickel-plated magazine with an unmarked or proofed wooden base.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 97% of the original blued finish overall with edge and high spot wear. 80% of the straw colors remain. The walnut grips are also in excellent condition with nice distinct original checkering with some minor light pressure dents on the upper left side. The markings are clear and sharp. Mechanically excellent.
