Description:

Used for training the Tommys how to properly assemble, disassemble, load, and service the Vickers machine gun. All of the major components have been stamped "DP" to show that this is not a serviceable weapon as is designated entirely for "Drill Purpose". Fixed blade front and adjustable rear peep sights graduated to "29", unfluted water jacket, standard British proofs and military acceptance marks, wood grips, and checkered push button "trigger". The cocking handle does cycle; however, there is no connection to any type of firing mechanism. Includes a green painted cast brass tripod marked "MOUNT. TRIPOD. M.G. MK. IV." on the right side with full traverse and elevation adjustment, green painted water can without hose, and an ammunition case marked "BOX. BELT. AMMUNITION. MG. No. 8 Mk. I" containing cloth belted drill purpose rounds (spent cases with loosely fit projectiles and no powder). The storage case is green painted wood and metal.

Rating Definition:

Good. Traces of original blue finish remains with areas of edge wear, gray patina, some visible oxidation, dings and scratches overall, and handling marks throughout. The grips have clear markings, and a few dents. Mechanically fine. Case is fair with loss of paint, dents throughout, staining, and mostly obliterated markings. Tripod is good with most of the green painted finish, and small dings and dents throughout. Ammo and water can are also good with most of the green paint finish, handling and storage marks.
