This set was manufactured for the 1976 bicentennial of the Declaration of Independence and formation of the United States of America and has the standard markings, features, and accessories. However, this particular set is especially noteworthy for the inscription on the plaque on the top of the case: "TO/Buddy Hackett/THANK YOU FOR LETTING US USE/YOUR WALKER COLT AS A MODEL FOR/THE COLT HERITAGE-COLT FIREARMS." The "Armsmear" book is also signed "From your friends at Colt Firearms Co. To Buddy Hackett/ Thank you for all your support thru the years! Enjoy." The factory letter details the standard commemorative features and also notes that this set was shipped with 5 other sets to Wallace Beinfeld in Torrance, California, on April 28, 1976. "Wally" Beinfeld was a member of Colt's product development committee and the operator of the Las Vegas Antique Arms Show. Leonard "Buddy" Hackett is famous for his comedic roles in cinema and television, especially "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" and "The Music Man." He was also a noted gun collector.
