Description:

Dated "1852" on the lock and "1853" on the barrel. It has a dovetail on the right side of the barrel ahead of the front barrel band for a saber bayonet lug and otherwise standard markings and features. Includes the article "The Remington Model 1841 Rifle and its Alterations by New York State" by Edward A. Hull. Saber bayonet adapted rifles are known to have been issued to the 13, 20, 28, 45, and 55th New York Infantry Regiments.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus with traces of original finish mixed with brown patina, light pitting, and mild oxidation. The left barrel flat has heavy tool marks. The brass has nice aged patina. The otherwise fine stock has moderate scrapes and dents throughout with clearly legible cartouches. Mechanically fine.
